Weapons Combat SystemsT

In January 2007, I decided, after long time and deliberation, to teach my own weapons system.

The name of the system is Weapons Combat EscrimaT.

Most of the system is based where I have had my base for almost 30 years, namely in Latosa Escrima. It is difficult imagine a weapons system without GM Rene's concepts.

Where does it differ? Hard to pinpoint, everybody who have trained for a long time, has in somekind of way, changed the system they started with to suit their own personality, physical abillities and experiences. Me, training WingTsun for 30 years have influenced the way I think. Just as my knowledge of Eropean Martial Arts have. These influences go both ways, as my knowledge of the Latosa Escrima concepts lead me to a better understanding of both WingTsun and European Martial Arts.

Besides this, I will use the knowledge and experience from over 30 years of martial arts and the inspiration from the people I have met on my way. Primarily Grand master Rene Latosa , Grandmaster Bill Newman, Master Steve Tappin, John Waller and Guro Bernt Schubert and of cause, all the good and competent training partners with whome, I through the years, have had the pleasure to train.

They have all been part of my development even if we not always have agreed on concepts/principles, techniques, politics or how it should be taught.

I have also decided to back this up with a system that looks at weapons from a historical perspective under the name: Historical Weapons CombatT and a study into and training with WingTsun weapons and armed and unarmed WingTsun responses to an armed assailant: WingTsun Weapons CombatT

• These three systems will together form Weapons Combat SystemsT
• The systems I teach should now be in total harmony with each other.
• Here is a short presentation of all three.
  

Weapons Combat EscrimaT

• Weapons Combat Escrima is as the name implies training in combat where weapons - cutting or striking, are involved.
• To put it simple in Weapons Combat EscrimaT you learn to take out an armed opponent as fast as possible - armed or not.
• In Weapons Combat Escrima T, both weapon/weapons situations and unarmed possibilities against an armed opponent are trained.
• Weapons Combat Escrima T works from concepts NOT techniques.
• Weapons Combat Escrima T is weapons independent, which means that the practitioner will be capable of using an almost unlimited number of different weapons.
• The training with weapons gives the practitioner of Weapons Combat Escrima T a better understanding of how weapons move and thereby a better chance against an armed assailant.
• The principles in Weapons Combat Escrima T are in harmony with the principles in WingTsun and as such a perfect supplement to this.
• Only the person that regularly trains with weapons has a chance against an armed assailant.

Historical Weapons CombatT

• Historical Weapons CombatT deals, as the name implies, with combat with weapons from a historical perspective.
• Historical Weapons CombatT is the ideal supplement to Weapons Combat EscrimaT as it is based on similar concepts.
• Historical Weapons CombatT primarily uses European weapons.
• Historical Weapons CombatT tests the fight validity of European historical fighting manuals.
• Historical Weapons CombatT also takes worn historical clothing and protection such as arming jacks, mail and full armour into consideration.
• A general understanding of history will also be a part, when deemed important for understanding the development of weapons.
• A practitioner of Historic Weapons Combat should suplement their training with Weapon Combat Escrima to get a better sense of reality.

WingTsun Weapons CombatT

• WingTsun Weapons Combat is both training with WingTsun weapons and WingTsun empty-handed responses to attacks from an assailant armed with sticks or blades.
• WingTsun Weapons CombatT utilises the WT principles NOT techniques.
• The training of WingTsun Weapons CombatT gives the practitioner a better understanding of how weapons move and thereby a better chance against an armed assailant.
• WingTsun Weapons CombatT supports the normal WingTsun training
• WingTsun Weapons CombatT is taught in any of the Weapons Combat SystemsT classes
• Only the person that regularly trains with the weapons has a chance against an armed assailant.
